About Matt Glickstein
Born and raised in Kaneohe, Hawaii, Matt Glickstein studied the piano and developed an interest in songwriting, but had not thought about participating in musical theater or acting. His first experience in theater was a musical called Freshmen Follies, which he wrote and directed with classmates at the University of Redlands for his senior project. In 2013, Matt founded the Lanai Academy of Performing Arts (LAPA), an after-school program for students interested in music, theater, and dance. He currently lives in Lanai City, Hawaii with his beautiful wife Kerri, and their two children Noah (3) and Maya (1). He enjoys spending time with his family, golfing at the island’s free golf course, and sharing his love of musical theater with the children of Lanai.
About The Lanai Academy of Performing Arts
The Lanai Academy of Performing Arts (LAPA) was founded by Matt Glickstein in 2013, and became a non-profit 501(c)3 as of March 2017. LAPA is located in the community of Lanai City, Hawaii, (population 3,100) and services all of the island’s school-aged children. The only after-school performing arts program on Lanai, LAPA’s primary focus and long-term goal is to create contributing members of society who have self-confidence and know how to work together. By being a member of LAPA, children have the chance to work on these skills in a non-judgmental arena, and everybody has to work together towards a common goal.
