We're on the Road to the Junior Theater Festival!
As proud sponsors of the Junior Theater Festival (#JTF), we cannot wait to get to Atlanta this weekend and join in the musical theater mayhem! Be sure to follow along with all the fun on our Instagram, Facebook and Twitter at @mtishows.
JTF is an annual celebration of all things Broadway Junior and the incredible young performers who truly make our shows come to life. In addition to the thousands of Broadway Junior stars performing their MTI shows for ajudication, JTF also boasts workshops for teachers, students and parents. A highlight of the weekend features a jaw-dropping New Works Showcase, debuting numbers from soon-to-be-released Broadway Junior titles. This year's New Works Showcase includes Oliver JR., Sister Act JR. and more!
We're especially excited to welcome the ninth annual class of Freddie G. Fellows. The new Freddie G. Fellows will join an amazing roster of exceptional educators from schools and performing arts centers around the country. The new inductees will receive an all-expense-paid trip to New York City to collaborate with each other and work one-on-one with Broadway greats. Each winning teacher will also receive a $5,000 grant to put toward his or her theater program. The "Freddie G. Fellowship" is provided and hosted by MTI Co-Chairman Freddie Gershon and Myrna Gershon. It serves as a thank-you for all that teachers do to introduce the next generation to Broadway and musical theater.
The festival is also filled with surprises and special guests from Broadway's best! Joining JTF this year will be the legendary Broadway and West End producer (and Chairman of MTI) Sir Cameron Mackintosh, Frozen songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, Caissie Levy (Frozen on Broadway), Academy Award-winning songwriting team Pasek & Paul, Taylor Iman Jones (Head Over Heels), Ryan McCarten (Heathers The Musical), Billy Jenkins (The Crown, Holmes & Watson), Luca Padovan (School of Rock), Isabella Russo (School of Rock), and more!
