Does the licensing agreement allow for gender switching as has been allowed in the past? I’m specifically referring to Whoopi Goldberg as Pseudolus. Thanks for the help!

Hairspray JR with Latino & Asian students
Hi there!
My school is doing Hairspray JR this year. We are a diverse urban school and most of the students participating in theatre are Latino or Asian (we have very few students who are white or black that participate in the program). Are there suggestions for how to approach casting when students are non-white but are members of other races that are not African American?
