Sherman Yellen

Sherman Yellen, librettist, was nominated for a Tony Award for his book for The Rothschilds. His contribution to musical theatre includes his libretto for Rex, music by Richard Rodgers, and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, recently revised and presented at The York Theatre in New York. He made his debut as a lyricist with his new World s Fair musical, Say Yes!, (music by Wally Harper), which premiered at The Berkshire Music Festival in the summer of 2000. Mr. Yellen was the creator of Lucky in the Rain, a musical celebration of Americans in Paris in the twenties, performed at The Goodspeed Opera House, and recorded by Barbara Cook for DRG records. His theatre works include a biographical drama Strangers, and Delicious Indignities, a highlight of Oh! Calcutta! He has also written a contemporary drama, December Fools. He has received two Emmy Awards, a Christopher Award and a Peabody Award for his work as a screenwriter.
